Since there is no cure the best way to remain healthy is to prevent it from infecting you. Here are some tips on how avoid from catching the common cold
If you blow your nose or cough, wash your hands before touching your mouth, eyes or nose. If you need to rub your eyes (itchy eyes) try to wash your hands first. You may give a cold back to yourself.
Keep kitchen and bathroom countertops clean, especially when someone in your family has a common cold. Wash children's toys after play.
Sinse Common Cold is very infectious, avoid meeting patients until they are fully recovered. If you have touched patients(e.g. shaking hands), it is best to wash your hands afterwards.
It is always good to take vitamins. Vitamin C, for example helps strengthens the immune system. It is good before a cold as it helps to protect you against colds while during a cold because it boosts your immune's power against the virus.
Your body naturally needs 8 glasses a day. When you are sick, this is a bare minimum that you must drink, preferably more. The body needs water to function efficiently. An efficient body can fight off disease better.
If you get cold and wet in the rain or swimming, dry off quickly. The combination of cold and wet can use energy (while your body tries to warm itself). Since energy is used by the immune system, lost of energy may means less energy for the immune system to fend off virus or bacteria attack.
